FEATURES YOU WILL LOVE

The HipSurfer is packed with clever features to make everyday carrying easier, comfier, and more convenient — for newborns, toddlers and every “carry me!” moment in between.

Ergonomic Hipseat – Supports your baby’s hips in the healthy “M” position recommended by health professionals. The structured seat absorbs their weight so you’re not popping out your own hip like a human shelf. Better for their development, and way better for your back.

Strap-Free Waistband Design – No straps, no drama. The wide, padded waistband wraps around your waist and evenly distributes weight for pain-free carrying. One simple buckle, on in seconds. Fits AU sizes 6–18, with an optional extender for sizes up to AU 28.

Five Carry Positions – One carrier, five ways to wear: newborn hold / breastfeeding support (from birth), side carry (6+ months), facing in (4+ months), facing out (6+ months), and tummy time/burping support. Adjusts in seconds depending on your day (or your baby’s mood).

Built-In Bum Bag Storage – Holds the essentials so you can ditch the nappy bag. The zipped seat pocket fits nappies, wipes, snacks and sunnies. Side pockets keep your phone, keys, dummies and lip balm handy.

Toy Loop – Keep toys, teethers and muslins close and off the ground with the handy side loop.

Button & Loop Closure – Folds and fastens neatly for travel or storage when not in use.

Hidden Mesh Bottle Holder – A discreet pocket behind the seat stores a bottle for on-the-go feeds. Pop it out when you need it, slide it back in when you're done.

FOR PARENTS & CARERS

It’s a medical fact, carrying your growing children (especially as a new mother or grandparent) can cause injury and long-term chronic pain, if the cause of the condition is not treated.

Common conditions that the HipSurfer can aid, reduce, improve or prevent include:

Spinal Curvature:
We’ve all seen the mum in the park popping her hip out to carry her toddler - now imagine doing that 100 times a day for 3-9 years. That has got to do some kind of chronic, long-term damage right?

The HipSurfer has been designed to reduce the ‘hip-pop’ and to improve posture and overall spine and back health in carers.

Dr Jacey says 'The HipSurfer provides a beautiful merriment of caring for your spine as a parent and supporting your child to have a freedom and flexibility they need."

"As a Chiropractor I am constantly working with parents who have created a ‘sway’ in their lumbar spine from constantly holding their baby on one hip. These postural imbalances lead to stress and strain that can affect function and also be painful.

The HipSurfer provides parents with a thick comfortable belt that distributes the weight well. Allowing the parent to remain in a more neutral position. Because it provides such good support for the child, it also means parents can then start to practice holding the child on the other side. Chiropractors always love balancing out patterns and habits like this. It’s good for the body and also good for the brain!"

RSI’s:
Brock Smith, Brisbane based physio says: a sudden increase in lifting can cause overuse injuries (RSI) in the elbow, thumb, back, neck, shoulders, forearms and other susceptible areas.

Solution: The HipSurfer’s ergonomic design allows the baby to rest their full weight on the hipseat, allowing the parent to rest their lower back, arms, shoulders, wrists and fingers. By reducing the action and impact of gripping and holding the child’s total weight, this will in turn reduce the chance of an RSI.

SJI:
Hormones are released in pregnancy which cause ligaments to relax in preparation for childbirth. Unfortunately this can also cause some joints to move more than what they are meant to - SJI is one example of this. The Sacro-iliac joint sits at the base of the spine. Normally this has very minimal movement, although during pregnancy it can move more and cause irritation, shooting pain and swelling in the area. This irritation can then be exaggerated when carrying a new baby on the hip"

Solution: Brock recommends the HipSurfer to any new mum who is facing challenges with overuse injuries like SJI to trial off-loading the painful area - reducing the pain stress and allowing some time to heal.

The HipSurfer can help with treating the underlying cause to a range of injuries facing new mums and other parents. By relieving the cause of pain by using the HipSurfer, it can mean less costs in attending appointments and more time spent at home with your bub. Who wouldn’t want that?

It is recommended to talk to your Physio to see if this product is right for you"

FOR BABIES

The HipSurfer supports the healthy M position for babies (this is where their knees are above their bum) and helps reduce the cause and recovery of overuse injuries related to baby carrying.

No longer will you be permanently fixed in the popped-out-hip, weird curved back, baby hanging off you, kinda struggling #mumsstance.

Dr Ali Young Says: "As a parent who had a child with hip dysplasia, I wish I had this product to help with carrying my little girl."

"As a practitioner, I love the design and the angle of the hips around the mother, the support it offers, and the ability to have an attached parenting style whilst still maintaining the integrity of the child's hip function."

Back pain while holding my baby is a thing of the past!

I have a lot of back issues that have been lifelong and now that I am on my 4th baby, I am finding that the back pain is a lot more constant. Flare ups are a regular thing for me unfortunately and add in a lack of core strength, I am a ticking time bomb for my next flare. My 17 month old LOVES to be held and I spend most of my day carrying her on my hip or in the baby carrier - unfortunately I was starting to notice that I was getting tingling arms when wearing my baby carrier and I think it was due to my daughter’s weight pulling on my shoulders and it was also causing back pain which definitely isn’t ideal. I had been a fan of Hackerlily for a long time but wasn’t sure if it was the right product for me but I thought why not give it a go as it was something that I didn’t need to wear on my shoulders. As soon as I tried the HipSurfer on for the first time, I felt a weight (literally haha) lifted - I was two weeks post a huge flare up of my back and it was the first time in those two weeks that I wasn’t stressing over the pain to hold her, it felt comfortable to hold her and the pain was a distant memory. I was shocked. The HipSurfer helps keep me upright rather than slouching and helps give me the support around my core that I desperately need at the moment. I get pain in my upper thighs just under my hips also but while I am holding my daughter when wearing the HipSurfer, I can’t feel it - the pressure that is taken off my lower back, hips and thighs is actually insane. I ended up with De Quervain’s, after my third daughter, in my left wrist (which is the side I mostly hold my children on) and had noticed it was starting to hurt again recently while carrying my 4th daughter. When she is on the HipSurfer, I can comfortably rest my wrist while still holding her securely. Laura’s design of the HipSurfer is truly game changing and it is an absolutely beautiful product and fantastic quality. The HipSurfer has 100% extended the time I will be able to carry my daughter over the next few years and as my last baby, that’s something I am even more grateful for. If you have been on the fence about getting a HipSurfer, please take this as your sign that it is worth it - the relief I feel when holding my daughter now and not being scared because of the pain, is incredible.

Sanity and arm saver

I have been looking at the hip surfer for ages and decided to bite the bullet and just get it worst-case il just return it if it's no good.... well from ordering it to it being on my doorstep it was less than 72 hours including the weekend. Everytime I leave the house I grab my hip surfer before the children. It's so convenient that it goes over any outfit dress, jeans, pj's. I have put 2 nappies, small pack of wipes and disposable bags in the seat compartment and in the bag section I can put my phone, car keys, lip balm and a dummy with extra space still. It seriously is a life saver. Thank you

Arm-saver! Amazing customer service!

Thank you for an amazing product and an even more amazing customer experience! Laura was incredibly helpful when an issue arose with my order, and really made the process seamless. I’ve been using my HipSurfer with my 2 year-old after a shoulder injury, and it’s really helped with managing him on outings, especially when I have my 6 year-old to wrangle as well. I love the pockets which are great for this age - I don’t have to take an additional bag out. We will be taking this with us on our travels later this year, for sure. Thank you so much for saving this Mama’s arm (and coffee when it’s still warm)!

I highly recommend - such a game changer!!

I’m compelled to share my life-changing experience with this incredible baby carrier, as it has genuinely transformed my journey as a mother! This phenomenal product is the only baby carrier that I’ve used that doesn’t hurt my back, and I feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude. After the birth of my second baby, I suffered from debilitating back pain that persisted even when sitting, standing, or laying down. Unfortunately, the epidural I received during the birth of my third baby exacerbated this issue. However, my third baby’s love for being carried led me to discover the HisSurfer online, and it has been a game-changer! I can now carry my baby for hours without experiencing any discomfort or pain in my back. The exceptional support it provides is truly empowering, and I feel an incredible sense of freedom. If you haven’t yet discovered this amazing product, I highly recommend it – it’s an absolute must-have!

The GOAT of Baby Carriers

We used an Ergo carrier with our first born but it didn’t quite stick. We kept the carrier for our second one but was wondering if there was a better alternative. Luckily, I came across an ad - and while I was tempted to get cheaper alternatives from Amazon - I was convinced Hacker Lily’s was designed and made much better. Glad I trusted my instincts as this is THE GOAT. Although my husband wasn’t too keen at first, he quickly became a fan stating it didn’t hurt his back unlike the Ergo carrier. We sold the Ergo and never looked back. The best features of the Hip Surfer are - (1) no back pain (2) super easy to put on and take off - you don’t have to fiddle with various straps 3) baby comes on and off quickly - we love the flexibility of being able to pass baby between us when we’re on the go (4) baby is very comfortable - not squished in the carrier when rear-facing, and has much more range of motion when facing forward (5) ample storage including a bottle pouch. We have had so many people stopping us to ask what the product is because it looks so awesome - dads at a birthday party, at a kids festival, etc. It was very handy when our baby had to stay in hospital and had to be held all the time. Nurses and doctors (even those who didn’t have kids said it was very cool.). It’s so awesome that Dad can rock it anywhere, too. We haven’t been using our pram when going out as my husband prefers it for the convenience and easy of moving through large crowds and difficult terrains like on a hike! But my favourite use for it would have to be for rocking my baby to sleep! It is a MUST HAVE for all parents! Bonus points for amazing customer service! Thanks for your clever product!

Innovative great quality product

The Hackerlily hipseat in grey fabric is super comfy to wear and well made. I couldn’t be happier with how comfortable this is and amazingly how long I can carry my baby for without strain on my back and arms. Had an initial hiccup with my order but the customer service was second to none and I have no reservations in recommending Hackerlily. I have told my family and friends with babies and toddlers to do themselves a favour and get the Hackerlily hipseat

A Godsend!

Postpartum for me was rife with complications, including a fractured sacrum. The Hipsurfer has really helped to take the pressure off and relieve some of my pain, whilst also giving me another way to bond with my daughter. The features are also really practical. I can’t wait to purchase the new covers coming soon to match my outfits!

So glad I bought this and awesome customer service

I was toying with the idea of buying this for a while. My 12 month old is 12 kilograms and I couldn’t hold him for more than a couple of minutes. I’ve had my hip surfer for two weeks and we’ve used it almost every day. We’ve been to the zoo as well and I was able to carry my son around for half an hour with no difficulties. I think it’s a great option to have compared to just a pram so he can get the 360 degree view. He also really isn’t a fan of a traditional carrier so this has been such a great solution. I also just use it around the house when he’s getting a bit cranky and wants to be picked up. He loves watching me make his breakfast or my coffee in the morning.

I was most unsure because of the price and wasn’t sure if we would use but I think it’s worth it because now I look forward to picking him up and carrying him around to show him things. Before it felt so hard and my arm got sore so quickly that I had to put him down within a few minutes. So so glad I bought it!

The customer service has also been great. There was a mix up with my order and I emailed them. Laura was really apologetic and sent the correct item out express post so really happy with their service ☺️ Thanks again guys!

Exceeding my expectations

I knew this would make life easier but it’s actually such an incredible product!! I can fit so much in the pockets and my little koala boy loves it just as much! Super easy to use, comfortable to wear and practical!

FAQs

Is The HipSurfer safe for babies and toddlers developing bodies?

Pediatricians recommend a healthy seated “M” position when babies are being carried - and luckily for you, the HipSufer naturally promotes this through it's ergonomic design.

The “M” position means your little one’s knees should be sitting higher than their bum when they’re in the face-to-face and side carry position.

For more information about the hip healthy "M" position or download our Product and Safety Manual

Is there an age or weight limit?

The Hackerlily HipSurfer can be used from birth as a breastfeeding or sleep support aid. From 4 -6 months old, babies can hop on and take a ride on the HipSurfer (facing in towards you). As your baby grows and starts to sit up and explore the world, you will see your HipSurfer grow into its baby carrying golden years!

Learn more in our Product and Safety Manual here

When can my baby face forward in the HipSurfer?

Babies can face forward in the HipSurfer once they have strong neck control, usually around 6 months old. This ensures their head and neck are supported, making it safe for them to explore the world around them while keeping you comfortable.

What is your product warranty?

Hackerlily provides a 1 year product warranty (effective from date of purchase) for the HipSurfer and Rebel backpack which covers any manufacturer defects in material or workmanship.

For all other products provide a 90 day warranty.

We are 100% here to support you so please reach out with any queries on this at hello@hackerlily.com

Can grandparents use the HipSurfer?

Absolutely the HipSurfer is a total game changer for grandparents who want to hold their grandchild closer for longer. We've received nothing but rave reviews.

Strappy carriers can often become burdensome, especially when sharing amongst several family members.

The HipSurfer is so easy to put on and adjust. The wide waistband is extremely comfortable and the HipSurfer absorbs the full weight of your grandchild.

When can baby face forward on a hip carrier?

Babies can begin to face outward in the HipSurfer Infant carrier when they can independently hold their head up, which is typically around 4 to 6 months of age. Beyond facing outward, your baby can face you for direct interaction and bonding or be positioned on your hip for a comfortable side-straddle, making it easier for parents to use their hands while baby can have a new perspective.

What is the best toddler carrier in Australia?

The HipSurfer is approved by Doctors and has won multiple Gold Awards for product design and family travel. The HipSurfer toddler carrier can support children up to 15Kgs or 3 years old, allowing for 3 years of everyday use.

Is the HipSurfer safe for newborns?

Yes, the HipSurfer is designed with newborns in mind and can support safe positioning from birth. The HipSurfer supports the natural M-position, recommended for healthy hip development. It's perfect for those early days of bonding and breastfeeding while keeping your little one close and secure.

Can the HipSurfer cause hip dysplasia?

No, the HipSurfer actually supports healthy hip development. It encourages the recommended M-position for babies, which is critical in preventing hip dysplasia. Our carrier is doctor-approved and ideal for babies with hip concerns, even those using a hip brace.

Can babies sleep in the HipSurfer?

Absolutely! The HipSurfer’s ergonomic design helps babies relax and drift off to sleep. With no buckles to disturb them, they can be easily transferred to a cot or pram without disruption. It’s a lifesaver for busy parents with little ones who need naps on the go!

Is the HipSurfer easy to use for multiple caregivers?

Definitely! The HipSurfer’s one-buckle system makes it quick and easy to adjust between users of different body shapes and sizes. It’s perfect for sharing between parents, grandparents, and other caregivers without hassle.
