As a mum of 2 larger than life kids (literally large kids) that never enjoyed complex baby carriers, I can confidently say that I have experienced all the pain, strain, numbness, throbbing, tingles and tightness that goes with carrying my little (big) clan.
When I couldn't find a baby carrier that appealed to me and that felt authentic to my style (and complimented my active Aussie lifestyle), I began to design a baby carrier that I knew my kids would love, that I would feel flipping fantastic wearing (and my husband wouldn’t mind wearing) and that could be used well into the toddlerhood.
Because my sense of fashion changes with the wind (some days I love a good animal print and quirky burst of colour and some days it’s “have you got any blacker?”) I wanted something that could change with my outfit on the daily and also be designed with the Australian weather and lifestyle in mind.
Fast forward about a gazillion design decisions, prototypes and “can I actually do this?” moments, and The Hackerlily HipSurfer was launched into the world in February 2023.
Since launching Hackerlily has won numerous awards including Product Design Of The Year (Ausmumpreneur Awards), Start-Up Of The Year (ROAR Awards) and Baby Accessory Of The Year Award (SHE-com Awards).
The HipSurfer has been a game changer for me and my kids. My two kids love hitching a ride and surfing through life with me and my husband. I love that I can now share this life changing #mumhack with more parents so they have more tools in their parenting toolbelt and can surf the waves of motherhood with me!
If I can help just one mum, dad, grandparent or caregiver with relieving the strain, pain, stress, anxiety, sweat and hassle of carrying their bub, so that they can hold them closer for just a bit longer - then this makes it all so much more meaningful.
